Dear Parents of Langtree Charter Academy Lower School Students:

On August 21, many people in our country will experience a possibly once-in-a-lifetime event; a total solar eclipse.  The eclipse will take a path across the United States and will be observable by many in its entirety from one coast to the other.

Our science class teachers have taken this opportunity to teach our students about this amazing astral event.

We believe your children should be able to experience it with you at home.  Therefore, Langtree Charter Academy Lower School will dismiss early on August 21st at the following times:

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade will dismiss at 11:30 am.

3rd Grade – 5th Grade will dismiss at 12:00 pm.

All classes will eat lunch in their classrooms.  We will also have an abbreviated schedule for Specials and Recess.

We have decided to dismiss school early on this historic day in order to allow you to share this experience with your child. As we’re sure you are aware, it is dangerous to stare at the sun even though it appears to be covered.  We recommend that you take all precautions necessary at home to protect your child’s vision.
