One of the major differences is our high school academy model. We know high school presents a huge transition in students’ lives. This is where it starts to feel real. This is where the future begins to be within arm’s reach. This is when many students could become overwhelmed. Not here.
Our school is unique. Every student entering next year will be enrolled in the Freshman Academy. This program helps students learn how to transition to high school. It teaches study and organizational skills, goal setting for college or career readiness and sets the stage for their entry into future academies. Each student is assigned an adult mentor along with the guidance counselor to help keep them on track. This consistent adult role model becomes a person students can rely on and trust as they begin this exciting journey toward adulthood.
Students coming from our K-8 school are already familiar with our Cambridge program. New students to our upper school may be eligible for our Cambridge Academy which is designed for students who need a more rigorous curriculum and provides a global perspective. Students can earn college credits with their Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) diploma.
Based on student interest and demand, our future academies will be designed for our school’s unique needs. Some of the potential academies include:
- Health/Science Academy
- Communications, Engineering and Technology Academy
- Leadership/Entrepreneurship Academy
We will develop community partnerships with colleges and local businesses to best prepare students for the future.
